On-Set Troubleshooting

When a finish doesn’t behave as expected, you don’t need theory — you need a fast, practical fix. We support crews with clear, step-by-step troubleshooting to keep the build moving and protect the final look under camera lighting.

How we support you

  • Quick call or video call for live diagnosis
  • Clear “do / don’t” instructions based on your substrate and system
  • Risk reduction: avoiding rework, delays, and material waste
  • If needed, agreed on-site support (scope and cost confirmed in advance)

Common issues we help resolve

  • Poor adhesion, lifting, or flaking
  • Slow drying, soft surface, or blocking during stacking
  • Roller marks, lap marks, orange peel, or uneven sheen
  • Dust nibs, contamination, fisheyes, or cratering
  • Colour shift under lighting, patchiness, or weak coverage
  • Tape pull, edge tearing, or masking bleed
  • Stains, tannin bleed, or substrate reactions (MDF/wood/plastics)
  • Effect finishes behaving differently than the test panel

Fast troubleshooting workflow

  1. Identify the issue (what changed vs. the approved sample)
  2. Check conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow, cure time)
  3. Confirm substrate + prep (sanding, cleaning, primer choice)
  4. Adjust application (coat weight, tooling, dilution, flash-off)
  5. Decide the safest correction (spot fix vs. recoat vs. reset)
  6. Verify under the same light and angle used for camera tests

What we need from you (to solve it fast)

  • Substrate and system used (primer + topcoat + any effects)
  • When it was applied and how (tool, coat weight, number of coats)
  • Current conditions (temperature, humidity, airflow)
  • Photos or a short video under the working light
  • Your handling target (tape-ready, stack-ready, final approval)

On-site support (when it’s critical)

For high-stakes builds, we can come on site to help stabilize the workflow, run quick tests, and guide the team through a reliable fix. We agree scope and cost in advance (travel, time on site, and any sampling/testing requirements), so it’s predictable and easy to approve.
